Danish Trail Riding - A Visit to Pronghorn Racing

The ambitious Danish bike company Pronghorn Racing organized a season kickoff in spring 2009. Time to check the single track trails in Silkeborg/Denmark.
Kenneth Dalsgaard means what he says: "We wanted to build the fastest bike for racing!" The result is really impressive: During the last season their fresh high performance bikes got a lot of great results in test reviews. So I was really looking forward to check my new ride for 2009. And to be honest: "I didn't expect, that there would be such cool single track in Denmark."

First I'm gonna tell you more about my new bike:
The Long Travel All Mountain Bike PR6 series stands out with its unconventional position of the rear shock. So, what is a Pronghorn?
It's the world's fastest land animal over long distances. Its unique biomechanic is a phenom, so the guys have set themselves high goals, when they designed the Pronghorn Racing bikes.
As a professional bike coach and passionate ambassador of mountain biking I will represent Pronghorn Racing in 2009 and I'm really glad to have such nice bike for all the events and races I will attend in the upcoming season over here in Germany.

i think the shock placement is a great idea, keeps it out of the way of mud and dirt and also gives you easier quick adjustment of the shock.
but the stantion of the shock (particularly air ones) could get damage by trouser rub when your standing stationary with the bike...
i think that pronghorn took all those kind of issues into consideration. and you would be wearing spandex so thee wouldn't be any rub
Lol...Um, no. You might be wearing spandex but I damn sure wouldnt be.... I remember seeing this debate beaten to death in a forum but, in my opinion at least, it's just another company trying to get tricky and reinvent the wheel when it doesnt need to be.
Sure, maybe it keeps it away from mud but it raises your COG and exposes it to all other sorts of danger that shocks which are tucked away within the frame arent exposed to so there's a case for both sides of that.

i wouldn't wear spandex, the reason i said that is, just look in the pictures. pretty much every guy is
hit the wrong part??? how short are you/ saggy are your old man balls? its an all mountain bike tuned towards light to midlevel riding not hucking. as for spandex more people riding this bike are not going to have full moto shorts on, there going to have lycra shorts or baggy xc shorts on, so as long as you get the right sized frame, using the frame for its intended purpose it was designed for and dressing for the ride you should be fine. The company is obviously serious about making bikes for people who want to ride, not just look cool
Yeah was just a joke. Clearly the company designed the frame quite well with out any interference; that's not really a question. And about height, I'm 6'2" so that's what made it that little bit funnier. Whatever, looks like design that would ride well.

as far as i know the only good trails we got in Denmark are cross country trails. the longest dh/fr run in denmark as far as i know is like abit over a minute long which sucks!!

I've been riding and racing a PR6-XC since Jan. The shock location makes turning pro pedal on super easy esp while on the fly. You won't catch the boys on the shock, I've screwed up enough times to vouch for that. I'm also a pretty big rider and race in the Clydesdale division, I haven't noticed much if any flex from the rig. Overall I'm very happy with the bike.

rear susp is kinda hidden, i thought it was one of those "bendy frame" bikes.
